“A new season always arrives carrying possibility. As spring gives way to summer, our fields stand as a reflection of countless hours of teamwork, determination, and shared purpose. Every bed planted, every seed nurtured, and every project underway represents the strength of this incredible community. Together, we’re building something lasting—not just a farm, but a living system that will continue to grow, teach, and nourish for years to come.”
Dear Living City Farms Family,
Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Season CSA Program!
As we move into the heart of the growing season, we are excited to share updates from around the farm and give you a glimpse of all the wonderful projects, harvests, and events on the horizon.
The biggest news? We’re almost finished with field planting! Months of planning, propagation, transplanting, and bed preparation are finally coming together. Soon we’ll be shifting our focus from establishment to stewardship—entering the season of pruning, trellising, weeding, and maintenance that helps transform a productive farm into a beautiful one.
We’ll also be re-trenching alleyways throughout several of our flood-prone field quadrants to improve drainage and keep our crops thriving through Ohio’s summer storms.
As always, we couldn’t do any of this without our amazing CSA members, volunteers, customers, and supporters. Thank you for being part of this journey.

Building a More Sustainable Farm
One of our major goals this season is moving ever closer to a truly closed-loop farming system.
We’re excited to announce that construction of our Black Soldier Fly facility has been completed! The structure is now ready, and we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of our breeding tubs and starter larvae.
Once fully operational, our Black Soldier Fly program will allow us to:
• Produce a high-quality protein source for our aquaponic fish and laying hens.
• Create nutrient-rich frass to fertilize and amend our living soil beds.
• Reduce waste streams while increasing on-farm sustainability.
• Strengthen local food system resilience.
This project wouldn’t be possible without the support of our local partners. We are working with community grocers including Krieger’s and Raisin Rack to redirect near-expired organic produce into our fly program, helping keep valuable nutrients cycling locally rather than entering the waste stream.
It’s an ambitious project, but one that represents the future we envision for Living City Farms.
