Curious about the benefits of cover crops, in theory and in practice?
Ever wanted to use them at your home garden or farm, but haven't been sure how to do it without large equipment or vast tracts of land?
Want to add to your toolbox for fostering soil health and ecosystem diversity?
Then join us for our first-ever Living City Farms workshop at our new Tallmadge location!
DATE: Saturday May 28th, 2022
TIME: 1pm-3pm (with optional Summit Lake tour afterwards)
LOCATION: 695 North. Avenue Tallmadge, OH 44278
This workshop will offer helpful insights for home gardeners, land stewards, and small-scale farmers with any level of experience, from beginner to expert.
During the first half of the workshop, we will share the theory and science of using mixed-species cover crops in a no-till system to harness the amazing powers of photosynthesis and regenerate the soil at your farm or garden.
Then in the second half, we'll do some embodied learning and teach you how to terminate your own cover crop once it's grown, turning this vibrant mixture of plants into a beautiful golden mulch for your garden beds--all without the use of tillage or tractors!
After the main workshop is over, we'll also be taking an (optional) tour group to see our cover crop system at our second urban farm location in Akron's Summit Lake neighborhood. Join us!
RAIN DATE: Sunday, May 29th, 1pm-3pm
